Find the Answers You’re Looking For
We know parents and students often have questions before starting. Here are answers to some of the most common inquiries about our tutoring programs, schedules, and teaching approach.
What year levels do you cater for?
Radiant Heights Academy caters for students from Year 3 through to Year 12. Our
programs are designed to support students across primary, lower secondary, and senior
secondary years, with a strong focus on building foundational skills and academic
confidence at every stage
What subjects do you offer tutoring in?
We currently offer tutoring in:
- Mathematics
- English
- GATE preparation
- PEAC preparation
- NAPLAN preparation
- ATAR subjects
- Holiday revision and skills-sharpening courses
Our primary focus is Mathematics and English, as these subjects form the foundation
for success across all learning areas
Do you follow the Australian and WA Curriculum?
Yes. All programs at Radiant Heights Academy are aligned with the Australian
Curriculum and the Western Australian Curriculum. We prioritise key concepts and
skills that are essential for long-term academic success, ensuring students develop a
strong foundation that prepares them for future years of learning.
Do you offer a diagnostic assessment?
Yes. We offer a free diagnostic assessment for all new students.
There are no upfront fees.
Parents receive a comprehensive report outlining their child’s:
- Strengths
- Areas for improvement
- Learning gaps
This allows us to place students into the most suitable group — whether that means
providing additional foundational support or offering more challenging extension work.
Do you offer group and one-on-one tutoring?
Yes .
- Group tutoring is our most popular and widely available option, as it promotes confidence, collaboration, and active learning.
- One-on-one tutoring is available subject to tutor availability
If you are interested in one-on-one sessions, we encourage you to contact us directly so
we can advise on current availability.
How are your tutors selected and trained?
All tutors at Radiant Heights Academy are university graduates and are carefully
selected by the founders. We strongly believe that subject knowledge alone is not
enough — tutors must also demonstrate exceptional communication and teaching
ability.
Every tutor undergoes a structured training process, including:
- Shadowing experienced senior tutors
- Learning our teaching methodology
- Meeting our classroom delivery standards before teaching independently
This ensures consistency and high-quality instruction across all classes.
How do you track student progress?
Student progress is monitored continuously through multiple methods:
- Weekly homework booklets, which are marked and reviewed.
- Two formal assessments per term (Week 5 and Week 10)
- Structured learning blocks targeting specific concepts each term
This approach allows us to track progress systematically, identify learning gaps early,
and reinforce key concepts throughout the year.
How do parents receive feedback?
Parents receive feedback through:
- Marked homework and assessments
- Term assessments showing progress over time
- Ongoing communication with tutors
We also provide 24/7 support, allowing parents to contact us at any time to discuss
their child’s progress.
How do you support students who are struggling or lacking confidence?
Confidence-building is central to our teaching philosophy. Our classes are designed to be:
- Supportive and engaging
- Highly interactive
- Focused on participation and encouragement
Students regularly:
- Work in small groups
- Participate in games and collaborative activities
- Present solutions on the board
- Explain concepts to peers (teaching reinforces learning)
We believe learning should be enjoyable — when students feel comfortable and
confident, their academic performance naturally improves.
Do you offer GATE, PEAC, NAPLAN, or scholarship exam preparation?
Yes. We offer structured preparation for:
- GATE
- PEAC
- NAPLAN
GATE preparation primarily focuses on Year 6 students preparing for Year 7 entry,
though programs for other year levels may be offered based on demand.
How early should my child start GATE preparation?
We recommend a minimum of six months of preparation for GATE exams.
Ideally, starting 9–12 months in advance provides the best results.
GATE exams require:
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with exam-style questions
- Strong test-taking strategies
These skills take time to develop and cannot be rushed.
How does Radiant Heights approach NAPLAN preparation?
Our focus is not simply to “teach to the test.” Instead, we use NAPLAN-style questions to:
- Identify learning gaps
- Strengthen foundational skills
- Improve literacy and numeracy competence
Students complete mock exams and targeted practice to build confidence and
capability, not just short-term test performance.
Where are your tutoring centres located?
We currently operate across several locations in Perth, including:
- Ellenbrook
- Ballajura
- Canning Vale
- Champion Lakes
Classes are held at community centres that we book for the full term. Our website map
displays all locations clearly.
Do you offer online tutoring?
Yes. We offer both in-person and online tutoring.
- In-person tutoring is strongly recommended, especially for younger students.
- Online tutoring is generally offered for Year 9 and above, where students demonstrate greater independence and focus.
Special circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
How long are tutoring sessions, and how often do students attend?
All sessions at Radiant Heights Academy are two hours long.
- Most students attend once per week
- Additional sessions may be offered based on demand
We structure sessions carefully with breaks and engaging activities to ensure students
remain focused and motivated throughout.
How does enrolment work, and is there a minimum commitment?
Enrolment is simple:
- Parents complete a short enrolment form
- The student is placed into a suitable class
All enrolments operate on a term-by-term basis, with a 10-week commitment per
term.
